Wear Uniforms for Opening Ceremonies
Referees should wear their full uniform for Opening Ceremonies on Tuesday evening. Dress of the day will be the yellow striped shirt, black shorts, knee high black socks and black soccer or other athletic shoes. We will parade into the stadium together. Therefore, it is important that all referees plan to be present at Waipio Soccer Complex and in formation by 5:30PM. With all those yellow shirts, we won't be hard to miss. If in doubt, go the Referee Admin tent for directions. We are told that traffic getting into the park could be heavy, so please allow extra time to get there if you are not using the referee busses.
Check for Game Assignments We have begun to make assignments for those referees who had not already signed up for games. See the directions below to see your schedule.
Sign Up for Games Now! The game schedules have been finalized! To expedite referee scheduling the system will allow you to log on with your user name and password and put yourself on the games of your choice from among those available to you. This way you can schedule yourself to be free when you want to to watch a game of interest to you. We've set up the system so that games are available based primarily on certification level or comfort level expressed upon registration. Some referees indicated comfort with higher level games, relative to their certification level. We ask them to sign up for the early round games available to them, but let us know at check in that you'd like to be assigned to higher level games. We will work with you on those requests.
There are over 670 games to cover - over 1800 game slots! And we have some 280+ referees to fill those slots. We'd like to give everyone a chance to run the center and run lines. So, please sign up for one center and two lines per day to start with. Those referees who took advantage of the special hotel deal should sign up for four positions as was the agreement. If you are signing up for consecutive games in a day, we ask that you always leave yourself free for at least one game slot following a center assignment. This will allow you time to complete game cards and any misconduct reports and answer any questions that may arise in the Referee tent following your match.
As the schedule fills out over the coming week, we will likely have additional opportunities for those with the will (and the stamina) to do more games. And don't just sign up for the upper division games! We need top level officials at all levels. So as to provide a fair opportunity to all our referees, we reserve the right to move assignments around to balance things out. Also, we have many local referees who are working during the week, but who can be available to help with the late games each day, and we would like to acommodate them as well.
Soccerfest: Referees with players participating in Soccerfest on Wednesday should go to the Coaches page and open the Soccerfest Reporting Schedule to learn when their players will report and are scheduled to play.
Referees who wish to schedule games around their player's games can check the General Info page above and open the corresponding game schedule, clicking on the Pools worksheet of the file to see the team designation. Referees with a team conflict should schedule themselves into opposite pools or the opposite gender from that of their team.
SCHEDULING NOTES:
WE ARE NOT USING THE MENTOR POSITION AT THIS TIME. DON'T ASSIGN YOURSELF TO THAT POSITION.
THOSE GAMES WITH ONE OF THE OPPONENTS LISTED AS OPEN MAY END UP NOT BEING PLAYED. DON'T PLACE YOURSELF ON AN OPEN GAME AT THIS TIME. NG MEANS NO GAME. DON'T ASSIGN YOURSELF TO AN NG GAME.

Referee Uniforms
Referees at the AYSO National Games 2008 are expected to to dress for each game in the complete, official referee unfiorm consisting of yellow striped shirt with black collar, black shorts, black knee high socks with white stripes and clean, black shoes. Any of the officially recognized alternate referee shirts (red, blue, black or green) may also be worn. Referees should be conscientious about wearing a color that is distinct from those of both the teams and all three members of the referee team should wear matching colored shirts. In the event one or more of the referee team lacks a matching shirt, the referee should wear a shirt that is distinct in color from the colors of both teams and the assistant referees should wear matching colored shirts.
Referee Check In
We are looking forward to greeting all our referees prior to the start of the Games. We will want to confirm your availabilities, share any schedule changes and provide you with some tokens of appreciation for your volunteer service. Referees who are not currently registered volunteers will have the opportunity to do that as well. Click on the Events menu above to check on the dates, times and locations for Referee Check In, the Referee meeting and for the Volunteer Recognition activity.
Bus Service
We have tentatively arranged for bus transportation, for referees only, for the duration of the Games.
On Tuesday, for Opening Day ceremonies, the bus will leave Waikiki about 4:00PM and will leave Waipio about 10:00PM that evening following the referee meeting.
Beginning Wednesday, 7/9, one bus will leave the Waikiki area early each morning (about 6:00AM), stop at the Ohana Airport Hotel and is scheduled to arrive at Waipio in time for the first games of the day. There wil be another bus driving the same route leaving Waikiki about 8:00AM each morning for referees whose first games are later in the morning.
A bus will leave Waipio about 4:00PM, retracing the route back to the Airport Hotel and Waikiki. The last bus for referees will leave Waipio each day about 60 minutes following the last game of each day.
So as to ensure we have the right sized bus to meet the demand (or to decide if one is even needed) we'd like our referees to log in to their account, click on Detailed Profile, and scroll the list to answer some new questions we've added about your availability for assignment and interest in using the bus.
